I Need Somewhere To Wear This......

I have been eyeing this dress on J.Crew.com for quite some time now. I love the bright yellow dress and the satin shoes to go with it in another color! Haven't decided which color shoes I like better. Leaning towards the blue/purplish ones. One problem???? Where am I ever going to wear this? It's fun to dream of getting all dressed up! Someday : )

I Love Going To The Movies....

I never saw a preview for this movie just knew Jack Black was in it who I usually like. However....I was not impressed at all with this movie! Found it pretty boring in fact. Not even worth renting on video. The only good part of the movie was the company I was with!
I am still trying to decide how I feel about this movie. It is a true story and I learned a lot but it was really slow in parts. Didn't hate it.... but didn't love it! :)

My little brother Colt has been in Iraq since last June! I love him so much and am so proud of him! Can't wait for him to be home!

McFaddens - Mechanical Bullriding

Tonight was a fun night! Shelley and I headed down to Dupont Circle to go to dinner at Lauriol Plaza. Everyone talks about this mexican restaurant. We got down there around 9:00pm and there was a wait of an hour. There were so many people there. So we said no way and headed down the street to find another place. We ended up at a place called " Rosemary and Thymes". It was so delicious! Our friend Charese met up with us and we headed to "McFaddens" near Georgetown to ride a mechanical bull. I have always wanted to do this and tonight was the night! It was so much fun! Cannot wait to do it again!

Here is the video of me on my first mechanical bullride!!!

Vantage Point

So....I still don't know what I think of this movie! People were laughing in the theatre everytime a new vantage point would start and then Dennis Quaid had some pretty dumb lines. The ending through me off quite a bit.... i wasn't expecting it. I do have to say I was tense throughout the whole movie b/c I had no clue what was going to happen next! So all in all..... it was somewhat entertaining but can't say I would see it again.... EVER!

What a Beautiful President's Day

Today is a gorgeous day! I wish I would have woken up earlier and rented a bike to ride all day! Instead I went for a run on the George Washington Parkway with my roommate Rachel. It was so great to have warm weather to run in! So many people are out and about....I love it!

Definitely, Maybe

I went and saw this movie this past weekend and it was too cute! I loved every second of it! I do have to say it's probably more of a girl movie!

Delicious Smoothie

I found a recipe in Good Housekeeping Magazine a few weeks ago for a smoothie. Shelley and I bought the ingredients and I have been obsessed ever since. I decided I needed to stop eating treats at night and that a good substitute would be this smoothie! So here it is ........

1 cup pomegranate juice
1 cup nonfat yogurt ( i prefer dannon....low in sugar)
2 cups fruit (we've tried lots of frozen fruits such as mangoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches and I like to throw in a fresh banana)

Blend it up and my favorite is topping it off with a little or a big spoonful of lite cool whip! Delicious Treat!

Enjoy

Hershey, Pennsylvania

We made it to Hershey,PA this morning around 11:30am

For those of you who watch "Project Runway" on Bravo... you might recognize the dresses in a few of my pictures. It is from the Hershey Challenge when they let them grab whatever they wanted in the Hershey store and make a dress out of it. They had them on display at the Chocolate Factory and the Hotel.

This was the most delicious sundae I've ever had. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Baby!
Delicious

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Today is Valentines Day and i have to say..... not very exciting. Today I watched Sam and Olivia and it was kind of a boring day! I got off around 7 pm and Shelly and I had made a date for the gym. So...I got home changed and after a great visit from my friend Nicole we headed to the gym. The gym was nice b/c nobody was really there! I really had no desire to go to the gym today... I was tired and was ready for bed. But as always once I got there I was happy to be there. Did my stuff and came home... ate dinner.... and there you have it! My Valentines Day!

I was reading our family blog and my sister posted these pictures of my nephew Jack who is almost 3. He is the most hilarious kid I know. He makes the greatest faces........I wanted to share

This picture is what your face looks like after Cooper (my 4 year old nephew) throws a can of chicken broth at your head from the shopping cart in Wal-mart. He cried a little. I don't think he knew what a big gash it was because when he got home my sister told him to look in the mirror and he got this surprised look on his face, and said "Cooper, look what you did to me!!"

He loves his "Pinky" and for a while there smuggled him in his shirt everywhere they went. He came on our hike when I was in Arizona in January. My sister found him sleeping with her in his shirt the other night. It is so cute. He calls them his babies ("Rarrr" too, his white kitty cat) and talks to them.

I adore this little boy... ! Love you Bubba

President's Day Weekend

So... this weekend is Presidents Day weekend which means it's a 3 day weekend. So we thought we should take a trip. We decided that we needed to stop in Hershey, PA and go to the Chocolate Factory there. Then we heard there was a spa and thought how great would it be to get a spa treatment with chocolate. Then we figured going to Philly for the rest of the weekend would be a good way to spend our 3 days! So.... now that we are thinking about it and have checked the weather. We've decided to just go to Hershey, PA on Saturday for the day and save Philly for a weekend when it is warmer. 20 degrees with a major wind chill just doesn't sound too fun! I've been wanting to get away for a while now and am kind of bummed it's not happening but oh well. I don't want to be miserable freezing my butt off.... so I'll find something to do in DC and freeze my butt off here!

"Charity Never Faileth"

So... today in sacrament the topic was "Charity" kind of partnered with "Love your neighbor as thyself". As the first speaker started she began to share stories with us about her experiences and what "Charity" had to do with loving your neighbor. This instantly brought to mind a story I have about "Charity" in my own life. One act stands out more then anything else. When I was 19 years old my dad had been diagnosed with brain cancer and he was in the hospital having surgery. The timing was not the best b/c my sister was getting married in a few weeks and her reception was going to be on our property. Well... my dad had several things he wanted to finish in our yard before the reception. Little did he know his time would be cut short and he would be spending those few weeks before the wedding in the hospital. So... I remember we got a call from my dads brother and cousins who had decided that they wanted to come over and completely finish our yard as a surprise for him when he got home. So .... Saturday came and tons of people showed up. Friends, family, church members, etc. We completely transformed our yard in a day with the help of so many people willing to give of their time. Not only did my dads cousin and brother put it all together ... they never asked for anything in return. A few days later my dad was released from the hospital... and I remember being there when he got out of the car as he looked around and tears filled his eyes as he realized what had been done for him and our family. He said that they didn't need to do that. But was overcome with emotion. My dad was the most generous, loving, kind-hearted, serviceable guy. He would gladly give up his time for anyone that was in help. It wasn't in his nature to say no. I don't ever remember a time in my dads life that he told somebody no. So .. when i think of "charity" and "loving your neighbor as thyself" I think of my dad and all of his selfless acts throughout his life. My dad passed away a little less then a year after. But... his memory and selflessness are constant reminders of how I want to live my life. Just wanted to share a little dad story with you b/c he's been on my mind all day! Goodnight

Thank Goodness for ADVIL

I had a root canal this past Monday and have been in pain every since. It's the worst throbbing pain I've had in my mouth and I had another root canal months ago and never had this issue. I am not quite sure what is going on and my dentist is out of town til Tuesday night so I am just sucking it up. Just doesn't feel right! So......... for now Advil is my best friend. 4 every 4-5 hours keeps the pain bearable.

Finally... I Can Run Again!!!

So...it's been about a month since I have been able to go for a run. I've joined the gym and have been going a lot doing weights and classes at Bally's. I've tried a few times to run on the treadmill and it just kills my knee. So... a few days ago I decided to go for a run outside and give it a try. I ran 3 1/2 miles with no pain. So.. yesterday I woke up and did a 4 mile run... no pain. Then today I woke up and told my roommate that I would do 5 miles with her. A little discomfort 1/2 way through the run but I kept going and feel great. It is so nice to be able to run again and know that I should be able to train for my next marathon without a problem ( cross your fingers ). I am getting ready to start training for the Charlottesville Marathon which is on April 19th. I can't wait to experience another Marathon.

Fun Night Out With The Girls

Charese, Shelley, and I decided to go to PF Changs for dinner (Shelley and I decided it was time to use our free 10.00 gift cards and free appetizer cards from our marathon) and then go the the most fabulous Ballston Mall movie theatre to see "Fool's Gold" with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. I love them together and loved this movie! After dinner we were walking to the movie theatre and happened to come across this sandwich shop "Big Buns" .... we couldn't resist taking pics in front of it! Too Funny!

EMERGENCY APPENDECTOMY FOR SHELLS

Shelley waiting around in the ER.... in between all the testing

Me waiting around with Shelley... I got a special "VIP" pass to the ER with my picture on it.

Shelley after she woke up from surgery.....Looking Good!

Shelley and our good friend Christian who came to check on her!

So.... Last Friday I am sound asleep and my phone rings! It's my roommate Shelley calling to see if I could take her to the ER. She tried to metro there but there were delays and blah blah blah. I was suppose to work at nordstroms but didn't really care b/c for those of you that don't know I quit and only have a few days left! Anyways..... I told her of course. So we headed to Washington General Hospital in DC. She told me to drop her off and I told her she's crazy. We figured it was her appendix or something like that. So.... we spent the day in the ER. Very interesting place for sure. Pretty much sat on her bed and waited ... she had lots of tests done.... I kept everyone updated.... and finally the very cute doctors came in and told her about the surgery and lucky for us when she was wheeled down to the operating room we got to see them again! So my 12 hour day at the ER ended around 10:30 that night with her safe and sound in her hospital room ready for bed. So I headed home and her sister Megan and I came back the next morning and spent the day with Shells and brought her home! Lots more to the story but you get the just of it! I am so glad I stayed at the hospital with her... even though she tried to tell me I didn't need to. If it was me in there I would have done the same thing. Said it's ok you don't need to stay .... but secretly would be hoping they would! Good think I had my camera and could capture our time at the hospital! I'm glad you are better Shells!
