Today Marks A Day In History.........President Obama Sworn In As 44th President Of The United States
I've been glued to the tv all day. It's so amazing to watch the process of a new President being sworn in. Especially when the new President is making history. I loved watching it all happening in DC where I have spend a good few years of my life. All day I have been homesick for DC and wishing I could have been there for this day!

I Love 3 Day Weekends
This weekend started off with getting our long run out of the way. Shels and I ran 12 miles Friday night then rewarded ourselves with Rubios (best chicken tacos ), and a movie.
Saturday morning I got up nice and early to go to our ward service project. We combined with the family ward in our building and went to a citrus farm to pick grapefruit for St. Mary's Food Bank. It was a lot of fun and a great way to start off a Saturday.
That night I had the opportunity to attend a fireside by Elder Bednar at the Red Mountain Institute Building. It was for young single adults. It was amazing. There were so many people there. I can't even describe the feeling of being in the room as he opened it up to questions for the whole 2 1/2 hours to teach us "the process". He was trying to get the point across to us that we don't need an apostle of the Lord to come for us to receive Revelation. The spirit was amazing! The night was over before we knew it. I am so grateful for the opportunity to hear him speak!
Monday I didn't have to work so I spent the day with my sister and the kids. We decided to go hiking. We ended up in Fountain Hills at McDowell National Park (something like that). We chose a hike that would work with the kids and up we went.

Such a great Weekend! Gotta Love Phoenix in January ..... 80 degrees!

New Year's Day 2009
After ringing in the New Year here in Arizona. Shelley, Colton, and I hopped in the car and drove to Pasadena, California to meet up with some friends for the Rose Bowl Parade. Pasadena was freezing at 6 am but we staked out our spot on the parade route and the others soon joined us. We waited a while for the parade to start but it was pretty fun to hang out and meet some new people. It kind of felt like I was in DC with all of my friends and old roommates that were there. : )
After the parade we headed to Sant Monica for the afternoon. Grabbed some lunch, did some shopping, and checked out the pier and beach.

The day went by too soon and it was time to drop off Megan, Ann, and Colton at the airport and head back to Arizona. We were pretty tired by this time. I really hadn't slept in 48 hours and Shelley was getting sick. So.... we split the drive in half and both got a little sleep finally. Thanks to Rachel ( Shells sister) for staying awake the whole time talking to us both as we drove. It was definitely worth the drive for the short amount of time we had!

I Am Blessed
Words can't even express what an amazing weekend I had. About 5 or 6 weeks ago I invited my friend Sarah to go to church with me.
Saturday January 3, 2009 she was baptized a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
My heart is so full of gratitude for a loving Heavenly Father who placed us in each other's lives. Since she has started coming to church I have seen such a huge change of heart in her. She has such growing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She walks around with a big smile on her face. She is so happy and at peace. I have been so blessed to have her in my life. I have learned so much from being part of her conversion. My testimony has been enriched because of her. I know without a doubt that the church is true. Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that my Heavenly Father has given us commandments to keep us safe, scriptures to help us navigate through life's tough roads, the ability to talk to him through prayer and to have our prayers answered. He has given us a living prophet on earth to lead and guide us during these challenging times. He has given us temples where we can make more covenants and be sealed together as families. I know that the gift of the Holy Ghost is a blessing and protection in our lives. Missionary Work is so important.....I know the Lord will reward and richly bless us as we humbly and prayerfully serve him. I know he places those in our path who are being prepared to receive the restored gospel if we will listen to the Holy Ghost to seek them. I bear testimony that these things are true.
Congratulations Sarah! I am so honored to be a part of your story! Thank You!

Sunday was an even more amazing day. Sarah was confirmed a member of the church on Sunday January 4, 2009 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. You could see her beaming as she walked back to sit down. I am so happy for her. For the truth she has found in her life. I found myself full of love and gratitude once again as I was able to feel the spirit in the chapel.
After church we went to dinner at my aunts house and then hurried off to a Mission President's Fireside where Sarah was asked to speak about her conversion. The fireside was filled with phenomenal musical numbers and speakers. The room was packed with investigators, converts, and missionaries. She was so nervous to speak and I don't blame her but it just goes to show what an amazing person she is. There is a good reason the missionaries asked her to speak a day after her baptism and that is because she is awesome. She did such a great job and it is so humbling to hear her story of meeting me. If I had not taken that opportunity to talk about the church and share my religion with her... where would she be today? I think about that question a lot.

New Year's Eve

Go Kart Place..... New Year's EveNew Year's Eve this year was fun because Shelley and I had a good friend come in to town. My good friend Colton from DC flew in that afternoon and we all got to hang out. That night we met up with some friends for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. Then we headed to a few parties around Phoenix and ended up spending the new year at a big singles New Years Eve Party at some Go Kart place. It was fun to see people from our ward and to run into old friends. We rang in the new year and Shelley, Colton, and I were off to drive to California for New Year's Day! ( I'll post later about that).
Better Late Then Never.... Christmas
I just realized I never really posted on Christmas Day this year!
I spent Christmas Eve with cousins then headed over to my sister's house to spend the night and this is what they were doing when I showed up! Putting together the trampoline for the kids. I helped a little bit! : ) After this I crawled in bed with my niece Elle and she woke up the second I opened the door. She was so excited for Christmas she wouldn't go back to sleep. So she layed in bed talking to me for probably 2 hours.
