Day 3 : Grand Cayman

Day 3 was Grand Cayman. It was so pretty here. When we woke up and looked off our balcony the water was gorgeous. We loaded our bags and headed down to the dining room to get our ticket to get off the ship. In Grand Cayman they were tendering us in on little boats. So... since this ship is brand new and they had never done it before the wait in the dining room for them to call our number was at least an hour. So... Shelley and I got our number and joined the other hundreds of people. Started talking to a random family on the ship when I see my mom walk in with our family friends. I walk over to them knowing that our friends have hook ups to get us off the ship quicker. Sure enough mom says to grab Shelley and get over there. Turns out since our friends had cruised with Princess cruises many times before and they sell cruises they had passes to get us off as soon as the next group was called. Thank goodness. Come to find out later, people waited 2 1/2 hours to get off the ship. The tender to the island was slow and a little choppy making me want to vomit but we made it there eventually.

Shelley happy to finally be on the tender to Grand Cayman

This is the tender we waited for - about 50 people at a time can be taken to shore. Ugh!

They take your picture every time you get off the ship with some theme. Then you can buy the picture for some outrageous price. Shelley and I preferred finding the photo and taking a pic of it with our own cameras. This one cracked us up. This chick has the same face in every single pirate photo she took. There are like 3,000 people on the ship to let you know. The face would get old.

Ship from Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman: I forgot the name of the town we were in though. Whoops

Can't get enough of the water

We spent the morning walking around shopping and taking random photos.

Met a pirate! Big Whoop!

I feel as bad as I look in this picture. Water was choppy and there was lots of waiting to go back to the ship!

My one regret in Grand Cayman is not going to 7 mile beach to spend the day. I hear it is gorgeous. However it can be so expensive to take a taxi to get to beaches on Caribean Islands and then you have to pay for a lounge chair, blah blah blah. When you are cheap like me ... you go back to the ship where there is a free lounge chair, free food, free pool ( not a huge fan of swimming in the ocean. Hate salt water and creatures at my feet), free movies, etc.

That night there was a deck luau party. We hung out on the top deck for a while then moved on down to join the party. Couldn't miss the conga line, limbo, the macarena, etc. It was pretty fun even though I haven't done many of those dances in ages. : )

Day 3 Cozumel

Today was our first port day. We spent the day in Cozumel, Mexico. Shelley and I got off the ship and just walked around the little shops off the dock.Well... i guess we also took a million pictures with her fancy camera. Decided to get a snack of chips, salsa, and guacamole then get back on the ship. Spent the afternoon laying out then headed to the gym for a workout followed by the buffet for dinner. That night was Monday Night Football. Shelley and I decided that we would be good sports and join everyone outside to watch it on the big screen. So we treated ourselves to ice cream and enjoyed the game. Well... as much as one who doesn't like to watch football can enjoy it. LOL.

Any person that ever takes my picture always takes one of me fixing my hair.... no joke! Sometime i'll put them all on here. I have a million of me doing just this!

Can't see my eyes but the water is gorgeous. Some guy told us to look for Barracudas. Um.. no thanks don't they have huge sharp teeth? I'll stay out of the water .... but thanks!

Thought this hat looked nice!

These guys were so cute

Thought this was funny

Random donkey statue to take pics by... Isn't he cute?

The restaurant we ate at had these VIP bathtubs to sit in . We chose to not sit VIP but they sure were in a beautiful spot.
Love this picture Shelley took

My mom by the Big Screen outside. Definitely the best thing on the ship. They showed concerts, movies, and football. All day and night on the ship.

Day 2 : Caribean Cruise 2008

The second day of our cruise was a day at sea. Shelley, my mom, and I decided to get up and head to the gym. We did a spin class to start our day off. Nothing too exciting. The day was spent laying out in the nice warm sun and relaxing. My favorite thing to do is to people watch. There are so many different people on cruises and i find it entertaining to observe. This night was a formal night. SO... we all decided to dress our best and head to the dining room so we could all eat together. It was delicious food of course and great company. After dinner Shelley and I babysat our friends children so they could all go enjoy the New York Giants game on the big screen outside. I gladly volunteered to babysit since all of you who know me know how much I love football. : ) Shelley and I put the boys to bed and sat on their balcony playing the card game "speed". After that we put our fancy dresses back on and headed up to the nightclub on the very top of the ship to see who we might meet. Earlier on the ship we discovered some of the crew was pretty hot so we set out to find them.... and we did. We were a little late ... arriving as they were leaving unfortunately. But hey.... at least we tried.

Not the best picture but funny bc a 6 year old took it and was dropping the
camera as he took the pic .... hence our faces

Nothing like a game of " speed"

Caribean Cruise November 2008

Well... it's been a good past few weeks. I just got back this past Sunday from a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribean. We sailed on the Ruby Princess. It is a brand new ship just brought over from Europe. Along the way we stopped in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. It may take me a few posts to get pictures and talk about everything we did. . I was able to go with my mom, some good family friends, and of course my good friend Shelley. It was such a great trip! The crystal blue clear water is amazing and always breathtaking to see!

Ruby Princess

I guess I will start at the beginning. Shelley and I flew out Friday afternoon and landed in Fort Lauderdale that night. We took a taxi to the hotel and met up with my mom and family friends. Woke up early the next day and headed to the pier to board the ship. After waiting forever we got on the ship and enjoyed the afternoon onboard as we waited for everyone else to board. Finally at 4 pm we set sail. Shelley and I took our friends little boy to the buffet with us for dinner. He LOVES lobster and shrimp. Unfortunately for Shelley and myself we both hate it but Ryan is 6 and can't crack the lobster himself. Leaving us to do it for him. We couldn't keep up with him. The picture below was his first of 2 plates. That night they had a little party on the top deck of the ship by the pool. This ship had a huge outdoor movie screen right above the pool with stadium seating. So Shelley and I enjoyed a little "Movie Under the Stars" before bedtime. Perfect way to start our cruise off!

HALLOWEEN 2008

We decided to dress up as Greek Goddesses. Or as Shelley says "Golden Greek Goddesses". My friends Shelley and Randa and I decided to sport the same costume. It was fun to hang out with them and get ready together. My bathroom looked like a tornado hit it after we were done! Took a few hours of scrubbing to remove the glitter the next day! So worth it though! Thanks for a fun night girls!
